Spent On Dead Hours
$485
48% landed in hours with zero results
The Schedule Heatmap
Each square is one hour of one weekday, pooled across the three weeks. Pick an offer, then pick what to see. On cost per result, darker green is cheaper and better. Hatched red squares are the danger zone: we spent there and got nothing back. The far-right column and bottom row pool every day or every hour together, so you can read the day-level and hour-level pattern without a separate chart.
How to read this
Cost per result (CPR)
Spend in that hour divided by the conversions it produced. Lower is better, so the cheapest hours are the darkest green and the most expensive fade to the palest green.
Dead hour (hatched red)
Money was spent but it returned zero conversions across all three weeks. These are the slots to cut first. They sit outside the green scale on purpose.
Result
One lead-magnet conversion: a Comparison Chart download or a Pricing Guide view, depending on the offer selected above.
Pooled row / column
The bottom row and right column combine all the days or all the hours into one number, which is more reliable than any single square.
Worked example: In the pooled bottom row for Comparison Chart, the 2am column gathers CA$11.04 and 7 conversions, so its cost per result is 11.04 ÷ 7 = CA$1.58, the cheapest hour and the darkest green. The 12am column gathers CA$20.63 for a single conversion, so CA$20.63 per result, which shows as the palest green. The 4pm column is hatched red because CA$30.46 went in and zero conversions came out.
Key Takeaways
The headline patterns that hold up across every level of the data.
01 · The Discovery
Comparison Chart converts cheapest in two windows.
Conversions cluster overnight (10pm–2am) at roughly CA$1.50 to CA$2.80, and again in the morning (7am–11am) at roughly CA$3 to CA$4.50. The single cheapest hour is 2am at CA$1.58.
02 · The Insight
The two offers want opposite clocks.
Comparison Chart peaks in the morning and overnight. Pricing Guide does the reverse, peaking midday into early evening (11am–7pm). They should not run on the same schedule, and that is an advantage, not a problem.
03 · The Opportunity
Nearly half the spend bought nothing.
CA$485, or 48% of spend, landed in hours that returned zero conversions. The two worst single hours are 12am and 4pm, which together burned CA$51 for one conversion.
The Recommendation
Each offer gets its own run-and-cut schedule, because they convert at opposite times of day. Below each is the exact on-and-off grid to copy into Meta.
One schedule, applied every day. Run the same hours Monday through Sunday rather than dialing in different times per day. At this volume the day-to-day swings are noise, not signal: 7am, for example, reads CA$8.63 on weekdays and CA$1.76 on weekends purely because each is built on one or two conversions. The hour-of-day pattern is the part that holds up, so that is what the schedule uses. The one thing that does differ by day is which days are cheapest overall, and that is a budget lever, noted under each grid.

Conversions cluster midday to evening: 7pm CA$2.73, 2pm CA$3.05, 1pm CA$3.41, 11am CA$3.70, then 10pm CA$4.33.
↓ Hours to cut

The overnight block is mostly dead, and those daytime hours run double-digit CPR (8am and 10am near CA$18).
Comparison Chart · Meta schedule
Green = run, grey = off. Identical every day. Recreate this in the ad set's "Run ads on a schedule" grid (account time zone).
Run
Off
Budget by day: spread it roughly even. Every day clears CA$4.57 or better, so no day is bad. If you tilt at all, Sunday (CA$3.46) and Tuesday (CA$3.41) are marginally the cheapest.
Pricing Guide · Meta schedule
Green = run, grey = off. Identical every day. Note it runs the opposite clock to the chart.
Run
Off
Budget by day: favour Monday, which is far and away its best day at CA$3.59. Keep Tuesday spend light, where it has struggled to convert at all.
~120
extra conversions for the same budget. CA$485, the 48% of spend that hit dead hours, reallocated at Comparison Chart's CA$4.00 cost per result, is worth roughly 120 additional conversions per cycle. That is the prize for tightening the schedule.

A note on confidence: this excludes the original Audience × Offer × Angle test (which ran through Jun 3) so it reflects only the ongoing run. The pooled row and column are reliable because each combines the full three weeks. Individual squares are thin, around one conversion each, so read them for clusters and bands, not single cells.
